Royal Economic Society Visit
In November, KSA staff and students were invited to attend the Royal Economic Society’s annual public lecture at Loughborough University. This year’s lecture was delivered by Andy Haldane CBE and hosted by Professor Sir Chris Pissarides.
Sir Chris won the Nobel Prize for Economics in 2010 and Andy Haldane was the Bank of England’s Chief Economist and a member of the interest rate setting Monetary Policy Committee between 2014 and 2021. It's not every day that our students get to share a room with a Nobel Laureate!
Andy Haldane's lecture was about how Economists need to be better when communicating about the economy. Around the last budget Andy was a key expert on TV and radio and appeared on the Laura Kuenssberg show, Newsnight and Radio 4. The students also got to tour the Loughborough University campus and get to hear from various speakers about careers in Economics.
