Homework 100+
At Ken Stimpson we believe homework a key way for you to become a successful learner. We feel it important that we instill good habits when it comes to home learning and use these to support your classroom knowledge.
You are expected to undertake a minimum of 100 minutes of homework per week. There may also be a small number of additional tasks throughout each term which will be set via ClassCharts. Students in Year 9 transition and Years 10, 11 and Post 16 will see an increase in additional homework tasks. Your teachers will set this via ClassCharts. This is learning homework which will revisit language from the previous term. Students will have a homework sheet to learn from and this is also attached to the homework assignment on Class Charts. We will ask students to learn a section of their sheet each week and test them in their MFL lesson. Each section will be tested twice to allow them to improve and secure their learning.
As with any kind of revision, little and often is the key. Please encourage students to practise a few words at a time and build up their knowledge gradually.
For Year 8 classes, testing will begin wb 24th April 2025 with Year 7 starting after their current end of topic assessments have been completed.

Using AI
Is your child using AI to solve their homework?
In today's modern world there are an increasing number of tools, often including ai, available to students to help with homework. Whilst many of these can be utilised in a positive way, we feel parents/carers should be made aware of the negative affects of using these tools during homework time. Students can miss out on fundamental learning skills and also be exposing their personal data to undesirable audiences.
We urge parents/carers to be aware of how your child is completing homework, particularly if they are using a laptop/tablet device alongside their phone during this time. Often, homework can be completed more effectively and quicker if extra devices are placed to one side during study time.
You can also help your child by checking in with what they're studying, perhaps asking them to explain a particular problem to you so that they can consolidate their understanding.
AI can, of course, be a useful resource when homework isn't understood or in research, but this must be used in compliance with course guidance and referenced appropriately.
