Holocaust Memorial Day

Today marks Holocaust Memorial Day. Falling on the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, it is a day on which we remember the six million Jewish men, women, and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions more murdered through the Nazi persecution of other groups.
Last March, five of our Year 12 AS students took part in the Lessons from Auschwitz project - a powerful educational experience that included a one-day visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau and the opportunity to hear the testimony of a Holocaust survivor.
As part of their follow-up work, Esme, Sophie, and Wania produced a moving and thoughtful reflection piece, detailing both the visit and their personal responses to what they experienced. This important contribution marked the next step in their journey to becoming Holocaust Ambassadors, a role they have continued into Year 13.
