Year 8/9 Girls Football Success!

Fantastic result for our Year 8 and 9 girls' football team in their league opener!

Game 2 – Year 8/9 vs Jack Hunt

The Year 8/9 girls put on a fantastic performance, securing a well-deserved 2–1 victory over Jack Hunt. An early goal from Sienna T gave the team an immediate boost, followed by an excellent defensive display from goalkeeper Daisy W, who pulled off several important saves to protect the lead. After Jack Hunt equalised, the girls regrouped, showed great resilience, and fought back to score again, making it 2–1.

Huge Success for Red Nose Day 2026!

Our (early!) Red Nose Day was a brilliant success, with thanks to all the staff and students whose hard work made it such a fantastic fundraising event. Lots of fun was had during the extended break, with "soak the teacher" yet again being a massive crowd-pleaser!

The football league has begun this month with a very strong start from all of our teams!

Game 1: Year 7 vs Jack Hunt

The Year 7 girls’ football team played their very first competitive match against a strong Jack Hunt side, showing fantastic determination from start to finish. Despite not coming away with a win, the team created some brilliant attacking moments, including three shots on target from Lenee H and Aleyah J. For many of the girls, this was their first-ever competitive game, yet the level of teamwork on display was outstanding. Every player worked hard for one another throughout.

Dorset Walk Info Evening

A reminder that we are holding our Dorset Walk Information Evening tonight (Thursday 12th March) at 6pm in the KSA Assembly Hall.

This evening is for students taking part in this year's walk, along with their parents and carers. If you have attended in previous years and are already comfortable with the arrangements, please do not feel attendance is compulsory, though you are very welcome to join us.

World Book Day for Every Language

This World Book Day, Ken Stimpson Academy celebrated 'Language in Literature' with our 'World Book Day for Every Language' event.

Students and staff were invited to listen to readings from a wide variety of languages, exploring the rich tapestry of global literature. A tricky game of 'Guess the Language' and tasty international treats were all part of this special celebration of unity and inclusion.

Year 7 & 8 Cambridge Visit

Last week, a group of our Year 7 and 8 students visited Trinity Hall at the University of Cambridge.

The day began with an introductory session titled What is a University, where students learned about higher education and the different opportunities available to them. This was followed by a guided tour of the college grounds and a visit to The Sedgwick Museum for an educational talk. To conclude the trip, students took part in a workshop focused on developing their critical thinking skills.

Lessons from Auschwitz

Last term, Mr Whales and a small group of our Sixth Form students visited Auschwitz as part of the Lessons from Auschwitz project delivered by the Holocaust Educational Trust. This was a poignant and moving experience for all involved, and the students will now use what they have learnt to educate their peers and the wider school community.

Year 9 Sports Hall Athletics

Last term, our Year 9 project students had the opportunity to design and deliver an indoor athletics event for approximately 70 pupils from Discovery Primary School.

As part of their PE project, students spent the Autumn Term planning, organising and rehearsing each element of the event. This experience enabled them to develop a wide range of valuable skills, including leadership, communication, teamwork and event management.

Lego League Success

On Saturday 17th January, our Lego League team, Archaeologists Anonymous, competed in their first regional competition against ten other schools. The team was amazing and won the knockout stage, the regional challenge, and the Robot Game!

With thanks to Kerry, who delivered the presentation, our students were taken on Breck's journey - the story of a 14-year-old boy who tragically lost his life after being groomed and murdered by someone he met online.

Today marks Holocaust Memorial Day. Falling on the anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi death camp at Auschwitz-Birkenau, it is a day on which we remember the six million Jewish men, women, and children murdered during the Holocaust, and the millions more murdered through the Nazi persecution of other groups.
